OPPOSE Senate Bill 95

Subject: I oppose SB 95

Message:

I am sharing my OPPOSITION to SB 95, which is set to be heard in the Health and Human Services Committee, Tuesday. I am deeply concerned the committee is even considering such a bill while our state is experiencing a large measles outbreak.

SB 95 is misguided and creates an unnecessary burden that could sow confusion, increase vaccine hesitancy, and disrupt patient care.

1. Informed consent is already a well-established process. Patients already receive CDC-approved Vaccine Information Statements (VIS), which provide clear, science-backed information about vaccine benefits, risks, and ingredients.

2. Furthermore, raw ingredient lists are misleading. Isolated chemical names without context can sound alarming but are safe in the amounts used. Presenting them without proper explanation could mislead patients and fuel misinformation.

3. Requiring doctors to distribute excipient lists adds unnecessary red tape to an already overloaded healthcare system, diverting time and resources from patient care. Physicians should be trusted to provide evidence-based guidance—not forced to deliver misleading, bureaucratic paperwork.

4. Lastly, SB 95 undermines public health. Policies that exaggerate vaccine risks or complicate the vaccination process contribute to lower vaccination rates—putting communities at risk for preventable disease outbreaks.

I urge the committee to not move this legislation forward when we are in a public health emergency.
